Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore midfielder Miles Bent (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County) scored with just 3:36 left in regulation as the Washington and Lee men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with Randolph on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.
Randolph (6-5-4, 3-3-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 2:34 into the contest when junior midfielder Grant Collier (Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory) found the net off of an assist from sophomore forward Troy Jurney (Camp Lejeune, N.C. / White Oak).
Despite out-shooting the WildCats by a count of 12-6 in the first half, the Generals (10-3-1, 5-3-1) could not get on the board until Bent took a pass from sophomore defender Patrick Barry (West Roxbury, Mass. / Roxbury Latin) and beat Randolph junior keeper CJ Stevens (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) at the 86:24 mark.
W&L took four shots in the overtime periods, including a pair on goal, but could not find the game-winner. For the game, the Generals held a 25-13 advantage in shots, while each team took 11 corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) saw all 110 minutes in goal for W&L and recorded four saves. Stevens also played the entire match and posted nine saves.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
