Box Score ASHLAND, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team swept Franklin & Marshall, 3-0, in a neutral-site contest at Randolph-Macon on Saturday.
The Generals (21-4) edged the Diplomats (13-10) in each set, winning 25-22, 25-21, 25-20. W&L spread the ball around on offense, as three players had at least six kills.
Sophomore middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) led the team with nine kills and added four blocks and three digs. Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) totaled seven kills and 10 digs, while junior middle blocker Jenna Gustafson (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) had six kills.
First-year setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) paced the offense with 21 assists. She also notched five kills and six digs. First-year defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) tallied a match-high 17 digs and had six assists and three aces.
Sophomore outside hitter Ellie Ezekiel led F&M with a match-high 12 kills and eight digs. Senior setter Caroline Hubbard totaled 34 assists and junior libero Alyssa Sanchez registered 13 digs.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday, when they host Randolph at 7:00 pm for Senior Night.
