Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee scored a pair of goals just 1:26 apart in posting a 2-0 men's soccer victory over Randolph-Macon Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Following a scoreless first half, sophomore defender Patrick Barry (West Roxbury, Mass. / Roxbury Latin) got the Generals (10-3, 5-3) on the board just 1:12 into the second half when he found the goal following a free kick by sophomore defender Mason Billings (Greensboro, N.C. / Page).
W&L wasted no time in finding the goal again as first-year midfielder Andrew Kim (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) scored off an assist from senior defender Nick Zaharchuk (Blue Bell, Pa. / Germantown Academy) at the 47:38 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Kieran McQuilkin (New Canaan, Conn. / King & Low – Heywood Thomas) posted one save in 90 minutes in goal as the Generals' defense earned its sixth shutout of the season.
Sophomore keeper C.J. Montalbano (Charlottesville, Va. / Albemarle) played 61:20 and took the loss for the Yellow Jackets. First-year goalie Michael Bly (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton) played the remaining 28:30 in goal and recorded one save.
For the game, Washington and Lee out-shot Randolph-Macon, 14-8, and both teams had four corner kicks. The game was plagued by cards, with Washington and Lee and Randolph-Macon both picking up two yellow cards a piece.
W&L returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Randolph for a 4:00 pm contest.
