Box Score SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College recovered from a 2-1 deficit to post a five-set (16-25, 25-16, 12-25, 25-20, 15-12) win over Washington and Lee in ODAC volleyball action on Wednesday evening at the Bast Center.
The victory was the first for the Maroons (15-7, 3-3) over the Generals (19-3, 6-1) since posting a 3-0 win in the quarterfinals of the 2009 ODAC Tournament.
Playing without the services of sophomore middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich. / Saline), who ranks second nationally in hitting percentage (.433), W&L managed to hit just .159 in the contest.
The Generals were paced by junior outside hitter Anna Lausberg's (Ocoee, Fla. / Bishop Moore Catholic) 13 kills and five blocks. Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa. / Mt. St. Joseph Academy) amassed 10 kills and 16 digs, while first-year libero Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif. / Quartz Hill) totaled 23 digs. Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C. / Eastside) chipped in 39 assists and 12 digs.
First-year middle hitter Logan Graves led the way for RC, notching 12 kills and four blocks while hitting .526. Junior outside hitter Allison White chipped in 11 kills and five digs, while sophomore libero Ryan Hedgepeth totaled 30 digs. Sophomore setter Jessica Block contributed 28 assists, 12 digs and three service aces.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 6:30 pm contest.
