WINCHESTER, Va. -- Sophomore forward David Cohen (Chesterfield, N.J. / Northern Burlington County Regional) and first-year midfielder Sam Knapke (Glen Ellyn, Ill. / Benet Academy) scored second-half goals to lead the Washington and Lee men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon at Sprint Field.

W&L got on the board first in the contest when Cohen beat SU first-year goalkeeper Matthew Poell in the 58th minute.  The Hornets responded 16 seconds later when first-year midfielder Kevin Kokolis scored off of an assist from junior midfielder Eduardo Santiago to tie the game at 1-1. However, Knapke netted the game-winner at the 88:49 mark off of an assist from sophomore defender Cary Carabasi (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton).

Senior keeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) played 51:50 in goal and recorded four saves. Junior goalkeeper Kieran McQuilkin (New Canaan, Conn. / King & Low – Heywood Thomas) saw the remaining 38:10 in net and faced one shot. Poell played the entire match and posted eight saves for the Hornets.
