W&L Men's Soccer Takes Down EMU, 1-0

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Sophomore defender Mason Billings (Greensboro, N.C. / Page) scored in the 35th minute to lead the Washington and Lee men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday afternoon at the EMU Turf Field.

Billings notched the game-winner at the 34:17 mark on a long shot that beat Royals' (3-4-2, 0-4) senior goalkeeper Andrew Yoder to secure the win for W&L (6-2, 2-2). It was his first goal of the season. 

Senior keeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) saw all 90 minutes in the net and finished with four saves. Yoder took the loss after playing the first half and making four saves.  First-year Matthew Overacker played the final 45:00 and made eight saves.

For the game, the Generals out-shot the Royals, 29-9, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 11-3. 

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater for a 1:00 pm contest.
