Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 2-1 victory over the Bridgewater Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Generals finished the regular season with a 15-2-1 overall record and 11-1 in ODAC play, while the Eagles fell to 10-7-1 and in 7-4-1 conference play.
First-year Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) started off the scoring with a tally at the 21:25 mark off a junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va. / Norfolk Academy) assist to give W&L the 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Junior defender Lauren Abraham (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) netted the insurance goal in the 47th minute off another Beasley assist to increase the Generals' lead to 2-0.
At the 50:21 mark, Eagles' defender Julia Baca controlled a pass from forward Sarah Conner to bring BC within one, but that is as close as they would get as the game ended 2-1 in favor of the Generals.
Sophomore Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue and White, finishing with two saves. Taylor Riley suffered the loss for the Eagles, finishing with two goals-against and six saves.
For the game, W&L outshot BC, 14-4, and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Generals will be back in action on Saturday when they host the ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinals.
