W&L's Riley Leads Women's Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Shenandoah

LEXINGTON, Va. – First-year defender Kathryn Riley (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) scored in the 86th minute to lead the No. 20 Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Shenandoah on Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, Riley netted the game-winning goal off a feed from junior midfielder Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) at the 85:14 mark to give the Generals the 1-0 victory.

W&L (14-1-1, 9-0 ODAC) outshot SU (8-7-1, 6-3-1 ODAC) by a margin of 19-7 and held an impressive 8-0 edge in corner kicks.

In net for the Blue and White was sophomore Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove), who registered her seventh shutout of the season and one save in 90 minutes of action. First-year Erin Septer (Hamilton, N.J./West) spent the entire game in goal for the Hornets, collecting six saves and one goal-against.

The Generals return to action on Saturday, when they host No. 10 Lynchburg for a 11:00 am contest.
