LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team wrapped up regular-season competition with a 26-21 loss to Apprentice on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals (3-19, 1-8) won five bouts on the day, but were unable to overcome three forfeited weight classes in falling to the builders.
W&L received pins at 141 pounds as first-year Connor Duffey (Boxford, Mass./Brooks School) won in 2:26, and at 157 as senior David Dennis (Sherman, W. Va./Ravenswood) won in 5:58.
Sophomore H.T. Kotchinian (Lowell, Mass./Belmont Hill) recorded a 3-2 win over Dwayne Roes at 149 and sophomore Dan Igel (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Bolles School) posted a 7-4 win over Will Sexton at 165.
The Generals' final win of the day came at 174 pounds as first-year Zan Reed (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) notched a 3-0 victory.
Apprentice took the final three bouts, two by forfeit and winning via technical fall at 184.
With the regular season now completed, the Generals return to the mat on Saturday when they take part in the Centennial Conference Championships beginning at 10:00 am.
