Box Score

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team closed out its regular-season with a 10-0 victory over Sweet Briar on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.

The Generals (14-2-1, 10-1-1 ODAC) jump started a nine-goal first-half when sophomore midfielder Lauren Abraham (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) tallied the first goal of the contest off a corner kick by sophomore forward Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash.) in the fifth minute. Less than a minute later, sophomore forward Katherine Rush (Cornelius, N.C./Providence Day School) netted a wide-open shot in front of the goal after receiving a pass from sophomore forward Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) at 5:33.

First-year midfielder Becca Dunn (Houston, Texas/Memorial) notched the next two goals for W&L, extending the Generals' lead to 4-0 by the 13:30 mark.

Sophomore forward Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) then sandwiched a pair of goals around a single tally by Rossi for a 7-0 lead just 24:02 into the game.

Dunn completed a hat trick by scoring off an assist from first-year forward Erin Harvey (Mission Hills, Kan./Pembroke Hill), and Harvey ended the first-half barrage with a goal off a feed from senior forward Hannah Sackfield (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) for a 9-0 lead at the break.

First-year midfielder Mary Beth Smith (Spring City, Pa./Agnes Irwin) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 50th minute.

Junior Kingsley Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio/Westminster School) spent the entire game in goal for the Blue and White and claimed the shutout.

Protecting the net for the Vixens (0-13-1, 0-11-1 ODAC) was first-year Katherine Tillson (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), who collected five saves in 90:00.

With the win, the Generals have clinched the No. 2 seed for the ODAC Tournament and will host No. 7 seed Shenandoah on Saturday in a quarterfinal match. The time for the contest is still to be determined.
