Box Score GREENSBORO, N. C. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team outshot Guilford, 21-6, but was unable to capitalize as it played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon at the Armfield Athletic Center.
Despite outshooting the Quakers (5-2-1, 0-0-1 ODAC) 18-5 in regulation, including 13-3 on goal, the Generals (2-1-1, 0-0-1 ODAC) couldn't find the back of the net, sending the match into extra minutes.
W&L continued to attack over both overtimes, but its attempts fell short as it opened its ODAC campaign with the 0-0 draw.
First-year midfielder Katherine Rush (Cornelius, N.C./Providence Day) led W&L with six shots, while junior midfielder Ainsley Daigle (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) and first-year midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) added three shots apiece.
Midfielder Jaclyn Nucci recorded three shots during the contest to lead the Quakers.
For the game, W&L outshot GC, 21-6, and also owned a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
In net, senior Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) played all 110:00, recording three saves. GC keeper Amy Baker also played the duration, stopping 15 shots.
W&L returns to action on Sunday, as they travel to Greensboro College for a 4:00 pm contest.
