Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee first-year Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) scored two goals as the women's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
Beasley netted the first goal of the match in the 20th minute, collecting a through ball from classmate Katherine Rush (Cornelius, N.C./Providence Day) in the middle of the box to put the Generals (12-2-2, 7-1-2 ODAC) up, 1-0.
Just over five minutes later Rush scored a goal of her own, heading a cross from first-year midfielder Emily Scott (Port Murray, N.J./West Morris Central), giving W&L a 2-0 advantage which it took into the break.
The final goal of the match came in the 68th minute as Beasley tallied an unassisted marker, giving the Generals the final 3-0 victory to remain perfect (17-0) against the Wasps all-time.
For the contest, W&L outshot Emory & Henry (8-7-1, 3-6-1 ODAC) by a margin of 21-1, and also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior keeper Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) earned the win for W&L, playing in 71:48 while recording one save. Sophomore Kingsley Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio/Westminster School) played the finals 18:12 for W&L and did not face a shot.
E&H keepers Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) and Hayley Poland (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) split time. Jerome took the loss, allowing two goals while making five saves, while Poland allowed one goal and stopped one shot.
W&L concludes regular-season action on Saturday, traveling to Bridgewater for a 1:00 pm contest.
