Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee sophomore defender Conor Starr (Summit,
N.J./The Pingry School) connected on a penalty kick with no time
remaining on the clock as the men's soccer team claimed a 1-0
victory over Ferrum on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
W&L (2-3-2) was awarded the penalty kick after a General was
taken down with just under five seconds remaining in the match.
Starr took the penalty kick, sending the shot over FC (2-6-1)
senior keeper Chris Taylor (Roanoke, Va./Northside) to secure the
1-0 victory.
For the match, W&L outshot the Panthers, 20-6, and also held
a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior keeper Alex
Lambert (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Chaminade) played all 90:00 for
the Generals, stopping three shots. Taylor also played the
duration, recording 12 saves.
The Generals return to action on Saturday as they travel to
Guilford College for a 7:00 pm contest.
