MARIETTA, Ohio – The Washington and Lee volleyball team
continued play in the Pioneer Classic by defeating host Marietta,
3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Ban Johnson Arena.
W&L won 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15 to improve to 10-1 on the
season while the Pioneers fell to 5-10.
First-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St.
John's) led a balanced offensive attack as she totaled a
team-high 15 kills. Junior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee,
Fla./Maclay School) and sophomore right side Bailey Walker
(Centennial Colo./Regis Jesuit) added 11 kills apiece and junior
middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) and
first-year outside hitter Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) chipped
in nine kills each.
First-year setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin)
paced the Generals with 44 assists and added nine digs while
sophomore libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) posted 19
digs and senior defensive specialist Summer Goldberg (Marietta,
Ga./Woodward Academy) registered 10 digs.
The Generals wrap up play in the Pioneer Classic when they take
on John Carroll at 1:15 pm.
