Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's
soccer team recorded two goals in the first half as it went on to
defeat Eastern Mennonite, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Watt
Field.
First-year forward Jasmine Soo (Charleston, W.Va./Culver
Academies) recorded her first collegiate goal at the 23:50 mark as
she sent a breakaway shot past EMU (1-6-1, 0-2 ODAC) senior keeper
Abby Diffenbach (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) for a 1-0
advantage. Junior midfielder/forward Allie Espina (Gaithersburg,
Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) added her first goal of the season
just over five minutes later, providing all the offense the
Generals (3-2, 2-0 ODAC) needed as they claimed the 2-0
victory.
For the match, W&L led EMU in both shots, 15-6, and corner
kicks, 7-1.
Junior keeper Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) played all
90:00 for W&L, recording three saves. Diffenbach also played
the duration, stopping five shots.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they travel to
face Roanoke College for a 7:00 pm contest in Salem.
