Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer
team used a late goal from senior forward Harrison Myrdal (Virginia
Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) as it defeated Washington and Lee, 2-1,
on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
W&L (1-3-2, 1-2 ODAC) got on the board first when junior
midfielder Connor Pierce (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) recorded an
unassisted marker at the 61:00 mark to give the Generals the 1-0
lead.
However, Virginia Wesleyan (4-3-2, 2-1 ODAC) responded just five
minutes later when first-year forward Jordan Elgin (Coppell,
Texas/Coppell) found the net for an unassisted tally in the
67th minute to tie the game, 1-1. VWC recorded the
go-ahead goal at the 86:00 mark, when Myrdal sent a cross from
first-year midfielder/forward Ricardo Brown (Chesapeake,
Va./Western Branch) to the back of the net, securing the 2-1
victory.
Junior keeper Alex Lambert (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Chaminade)
played all 90:00 for W&L, recording seven saves. VWC junior
netminder Jay Coble (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) also played the
duration, stopping three shots.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they host Ferrum
for a 4:00 pm contest at Watt Field.
