Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team
improved to 8-1 on the season and 3-0 in the ODAC by outlasting
Randolph-Macon, 3-2, on Tuesday night at the Warner Center.
W&L won the first two sets, 25-18, 25-19, before R-MC won
the next two, 28-26, 26-24 to force a fifth set. W&L won the
fifth set, 15-9, to hand the Yellow Jackets (11-1, 3-1) their first
loss of the season. It was the second consecutive match that the
Generals handed their opponent their first loss as they knocked off
previously unbeaten Frostburg St., 3-2, on Saturday.
The Generals were led by first-year outside hitter
M.A. Boles (Houston,
Texas/St. John's), who tallied team-high 21 kills while adding nine
digs. Junior outside hitter
Megan Daily (Birmingham,
Ala./Mountain Brook) chipped in 15 kills, junior middle blocker
Lindsey Dee
(Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) added nine kills and senior
middle blocker Louise
Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) chipped in seven kills and
six blocks.
First-year setter
Nikki DelZenero
(Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale Central) paced the Generals with a
career-high 51 assists and added 13 digs. Sophomore libero
Cameron Hill (Tampa,
Fla./H.B. Plant) led W&L with 23 digs and senior defensive
specialist Jenna
Finger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) added 13
digs.
W&L returns to action on Friday as it opens play in the
Marietta Tournament against Thiel at 5:00 pm.
