Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Catholic University scored three
second-half goals en route to defeating the Washington and Lee
field hockey team, 3-0, on Friday evening at the W&L Turf
Field.
Catholic senior midfielder Tory Gagliardi (Pilesgrove,
N.J./Archmere Academy) broke a 0-0 tie just over six minutes into
the second half on an unassisted tally to give CUA (4-0) a 1-0
lead. The Cardinals struck again at the 48:15 mark as junior
forward Tracey Scanlon (North Wales, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy) added
another unassisted goal.
Senior midfielder Caroline Reilly (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy)
completed the scoring for the Cardinals at the 54:55 mark as she
scored following a penalty corner. Sophomore defender Catherine
Mirsky (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) picked up the
assist.
Catholic, which had entered the game averaging over seven goals
per game, outshot the Generals (0-1) 21-2 and held an 8-1 advantage
in penalty corners.

Kirsten Kyne (Baltimore,
Md./Loch Raven) made 10 saves in her first collegiate start.

Hampsch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) added one defensive save for
the Generals
Junior Krystyanna Ramsdell (Millbury, Mass./Holy Name Central
Catholic) did not face a shot in goal for the Cardinals as she ran
her shutout streak to four.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they travel to
Frostburg St., for a 6:00 pm start.
