LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team dropped
a 3-2 decision to Averett University in the final match of the
opening day of the W&L Invitational on Friday evening at the
Warner Center.
Averett (4-3) prevailed, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25,
15-9.
The Generals trailed 22-14 in the fourth set, before rallying to
force the fifth and deciding set before falling to 1-1 on the
season.
Junior outside hitter
Megan Daily (Birmingham,
Ala./Mountain Brook) led the Generals' offense with 17 kills, while
first-year outside hitter
M.A. Boles (Houston,
Texas/St. John's) added 16 kills.
First-year setter
Meghan Meleski (Richmond,
Va./Mills Godwin) totaled 35 assists to go with 13 digs. Sophomore
libero
Cameron Hill
(Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) paced W&L with 20 digs, while Boles
added 19.
Senior defensive specialist
Summer Goldberg
(Marietta, Ga./Woodward Academy) chipped in 10 digs and three
service aces.
Washington and Lee continues play in the W&L Invitational on
