Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Hampden-Sydney sophomore midfielder
Chris Whiteside recorded the game-winning goal in overtime as the
Tigers defeated Washington and Lee, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.
After playing to a 0-0 tie in regulation, Whiteside tallied his
third goal of the season off an assist from Bryan Wharton in the
93rd minute to lead the Tigers (4-7-1, 1-3-1 ODAC) to their first
conference victory of the 2010 campaign.
For the contest, W&L (3-5-2, 1-4 ODAC) led H-SC in both
shots, 18-9, and corner kicks, 5-3.
Senior keeper Will Dorrance (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) recorded
92:36, allowing one goal while stopping two shots. Hampden-Sydney
netminder John Robert Plyler also played the entire contest,
tallying nine saves.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday as they host Lynchburg
College for a 4:00 pm contest.
