Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Bridgewater College sophomore midfielder
Abby Dehoff (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) connected on a
penalty kick in the 68th minute as the Washington and
Lee women's soccer team fell to the Eagles, 1-0, on Saturday
afternoon at Watt Field.
Bridgewater (9-7-1, 8-3 ODAC) was awarded the penalty kick after
an Eagle was taken down in the box. Dehoff took the shot, sending
it past W&L (8-5-2, 6-3-1 ODAC) junior keeper Emily Leary
(Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings), securing the 1-0 conference victory for
BC.
W&L had several scoring opportunities in the contest,
including an early shot from junior forward Allie Espina
(Gaithersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) that hit the crossbar.
However, the Generals were not able to find the net in 90 minutes
of play, despite leading BC in shots, 10-5.
Leary played all 90:00 for W&L, recording one save. BC
junior keeper Shauna Manovich (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) also
played the duration, stopping two shots.
The Generals return to action for their final regular-season
contest as they travel to Randolph College for a 6:00 pm contest on
Tuesday.
