Box Score EMORY, Va. – Sophomore defender Alex Todd (New Orleans,
La./Isidore Newman) tallied two goals as the Washington and Lee
women's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry, 4-0, on Wednesday
evening.
Todd put the Generals (8-4-2, 6-2-1 ODAC) on the board early off
an assist from junior defender Kelsy McCraw (Greenville,
S.C./Christ Church Episcopal) in the 15th minute. The
duo struck again just under two minutes later, when Todd tallied
her second goal of the match off of a cross from McCraw to give
W&L a 2-0 edge over the Wasps (2-11-2, 1-7-2 ODAC).
Sophomore midfielder Ainsley Daigle (Lafayette,
La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) rounded out the Generals scoring
in the first half with a tally in the 23rd minute off an assist
from senior midfielder Taylor Garrett (Birmingham,
Ala./Mountain Brook), giving W&L a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Garrett recorded the Generals' final goal of the match, finding
the net off of a cross from sophomore midfielder Katie Howard (Atherton,
Calif./Menlo School) in the 66th minute, as W&L
claimed the 4-0 triumph and its sixth conference victory of the
season.
Keepers junior Emily
Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) and senior Taylor Joosten (Chicago,
Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) split time in net for W&L, with
both recording a save. E&H keepers Hayley Poland and Sarah
Jerome also split time in net, with Poland allowing three goals
while stopping two shots and Jerome allowing one goal while
tallying two saves.
W&L returns to action on Saturday for senior day at Watt
Field. The Generals will face Bridgewater College, with gametime
slated for noon.
