Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's
soccer team recorded four unanswered goals at it cruised to a 4-1
victory over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday evening.
Eastern Mennonite (3-13-1, 1-7-1 ODAC) tallied the first goal of
the match when Osman Velasquez took a pass from Philip Yoder to put
the Royals up, 1-0, in the 17th minute.
W&L (5-6-2, 3-5 ODAC) knotted the score with a tally from
sophomore defender Conor Starr (Summit, N.J./The Pingry School) in
the 22nd minute, and the score remained tied at 1-1
going into the half.
Senior forward James Pymm (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's)
started the Generals scoring in the second half with an unassisted
marker in the 55th minute, giving W&L its first lead
of the match at 2-1. Junior midfielder/forward Jamie Paldino
(Kensington, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) tallied a goal in the
73rd minute off an assist from senior defender David
Coriell (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon), and junior midfielder
Huntley Johnson (Gainesville, Fla./St. Francis Catholic) recorded
his first goal of the season with a helper from senior defender
Greg Jackson (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) in the
90th minute, giving W&L the 4-1 conference
victory.
Senior keeper Will Dorrance (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) played all
90:00 for W&L, stopping one shot. EMU netminder Ryan Baker also
played the duration, tallying one save.
The Generals return to action on Saturday for senior day at Watt
Field. W&L will face Bridgewater College in the contest, with a
2:30 pm start time.
