Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- In its first action since seeing a
10-match winning streak come to an end, the Washington and Lee
volleyball team rebounded with a 3-0 sweep of Virginia Wesleyan on
Saturday afternoon at the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
W&L handed the Marlins (11-4, 4-1 ODAC) their first league
loss, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13.
First-year outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's)
led the Generals' (12-2, 4-1 ODAC) offense with a team-high 11
kills. Junior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain
Brook) and sophomore right side Bailey Walker (Centennial,
Colo./Regis Jesuit) both had highly efficient matches. Daily
contributed 10 kills while hitting .643 and Walker added nine kills
with a hitting percentage of .421.
Boles also led the W&L defense with 10 digs, while sophomore
libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) chipped in eight digs
and three service aces.
First-year setters Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin)
and Nikki DelZenero (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale Central) split time
running the offense. Meleski racked up 25 assists in the first two
sets and DelZenero had 10 assists in the final set.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Sweet
Briar at 6:30 pm.
