Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Washington and Lee women's
soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with St. Mary's College (Md.) on
Sunday afternoon at Seahawk Stadium.
W&L (7-4-2) had a strong scoring opportunity midway through
the first half, when it took three consecutive corner kicks in just
over a minute span. However, junior defender Kat Lawson's (White Post,
Va./Clarke County) two shots were denied, and the match went into
the half at a 0-0 tie.
Neither team was able to find the net in the second half or in
two overtime periods, as both the Generals and Seahawks (4-6-2)
recorded their second draws of the season.
W&L led SMC in both shots, 17-13, and corner kicks, 9-5, for
the contest.
Junior keeper Emily
Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) played all 110:00, stopping six
shots. St. Mary's netminder Kelsey Wirtz also played the duration,
tallying six saves.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they travel to
Emory & Henry for a 6:00 pm contest.
