Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior forward James Pymm (Smithtown,
N.Y./St. Anthony's) recorded his fourth goal of the season as
the Washington and Lee men's soccer team topped
Randolph-Macon, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (4-6-2, 2-5 ODAC) saw several scoring opportunities
early in the first half, including attempts from first-year
midfielder Parker Wolfinger (Greer, S.C./Riverside) and junior
midfielder Kit Burgin (Atlantic Beach, Fla./Episcopal). W&L was
finally able to connect when Pymm headed the ball past
Randolph-Macon (6-7-1, 3-4-1 ODAC) junior keeper Matty Rocawich
(Chesterfield, Va./Trinity Episcopal) off a cross from Burgin to
put the Generals up, 1-0, in the 24th minute.
W&L held off R-MC for the rest of the contest, including
limiting the Yellow Jackets to just two shots in the final 45:00,
to secure its second ODAC victory of the season. For the contest,
the Generals led R-MC in both shots, 11-6, and corner kicks,
6-2.
Senior keeper Will Dorrance (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) played all
90:00 for W&L, notching five saves. Rocawich also played the
duration, stopping four shots.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they travel
to face Eastern Mennonite under the lights for a 7:00 pm
contest.
