Wasp turnovers in posting a 55-45 win in women's basketball
action on Saturday evening at the King Center.
The Generals (8-7, 7-4) trailed 19-16 with 6:16 left in the first
half, but closed the opening stanza on a 15-3 run to assume a 31-22
lead at the break.
W&L shot 60.0 percent (12-20) from the field in the first half
and, despite cooling off to just 26.0 percent (5-19) shooting in
the second period, opened a 19-point lead (47-28) with 10:23 left
in the game en route to posting the 10-point victory, its
third-straight against E&H (5-9, 4-6).
Sophomore forward Becca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central)
led Washington and Lee with 19 points and 12 rebounds for her
eighth double-double of the season. Junior center Felice Herman
(Fairfield, Pa./Delone Catholic) also notched a double-double with
14 points and 11 boards.
Senior guard Sarah Petty led Emory & Henry with 22 points and
eight rebounds and senior forward Alex Lyons was limited to just
six points and seven rebounds on just 3-of-15 shooting from the
floor.
W&L returns to action on Friday as it hosts Guilford for a 7:00
pm contest.
