Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore forward Becca Bolton
(Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) led three Generals in
double-digits as Washington and Lee defeated Hollins University in
ODAC women's basketball action, 75-60, on Tuesday night at
the Warner Center.
Leading 6-5 in the early moments of the game, W&L (7-7, 6-4
ODAC) used an 8-0 run to extend its lead to nine points (14-5) at
the 14:50 mark en route to leading 39-30 at the half.
The Generals extended their lead to 20 points (60-40) at the 6:32
mark after going on a 14-0 run over 6:19. Hollins (1-13, 0-11)
would pull to within eight points (62-54) with 3:36 remaining, but
it would not be enough as W&L cruised to its 12th-straight win
over HU.
Bolton led the Generals with her seventh double-double of the
season (19 pts., 12 rebs.), while junior guard Allie Long
(Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings) tied a career-high with 15
points and six rebounds. Junior forward Felice Herman (Fairfield,
Pa./Delone Catholic) added 10 points, nine rebounds and a
career-high four assists.
Hollins was led by first-year guard Jasmine Greene's
(Hampton, Va./Tabb) 21 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard
Tamara Phillips (Roanoke, Va./Lord Botetourt) added 12 points and
five rebounds, while first-year guard Tristen Jones (St. Cloud,
Fla./St. Cloud) chipped-in 10 points.
The Generals return to action on Saturday as they travel to Emory
& Henry for a 4:00 contest.
