Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – First-year midfielder
Ainsley Daigle recorded three goals to lead the Washington and Lee
women's soccer team over Virginia Wesleyan 4-1 on Saturday
afternoon at Watt Field.
Daigle (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) recorded two
of her goals in the first half, netting her first goal in the 28th
minute and following that with another goal in the 37th minute. She
would find the net again in the second half, notching her third
goal of the match and fourth of the season in the 64th minute.
Senior midfielder Maggie Sutherland (Pittsburgh, Pa./Sewickley
Academy) recorded the fourth goal of the match for the Generals
(4-0) in the 83rd minute after picking up a deflection from her own
penalty kick.
Sophomore back Kim McKinney recorded the lone goal for the Marlins
(4-3) in the 53rd minute.
Sophomore goalie Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) played all 90
minutes in net for the Generals, allowing one goal and recording
one save. Senior netminder Allison Lennox (Springfield, Va./Robert
E. Lee) also played the duration, allowing four goals while
recording five saves.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Hollins
for a 4:30 pm match.
