W&L Volleyball Downed by Randolph-Macon, 3-0

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team saw a 19-match conference-winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Randolph-Macon on Wednesday night.

The Generals (1-4, 0-1 ODAC), who fell 25-22, 25-16, 27-25, had not lost an ODAC match since falling to Bridgewater, 3-0, on Sept. 15, 2007. The Generals hold an 89-4 mark in league play since 2000.

W&L was led by senior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep), who totaled 11 kills on the night. Sophomore Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) added eight kills and first-year libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) chipped in 13 digs. Senior setter Megan Steinhardt (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) paced the Generals with 29 assists.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday, when its host Virginia Wesleyan and Gettysburg in a tri-match beginning at 11:00 am.
