LEXINGTON, Va. - The seventh-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 10:49 of the game, but was outscored 10-3 the rest of the way in falling to 18th-ranked Lynchburg College, 10-7, on Wednesday evening at Wilson Field.

Junior midfielder Chris Washington (Flint, Mich./Cranbrook Kingwood) and sophomore attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) scored two goals each in powering the Generals (12-3, 4-2) to the early 4-0 advantage. The Hornets (11-4, 5-1) got on the board with an unassisted goal by first-year attackman Dylan Hoff (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) with 28 seconds left in the first period, but W&L pushed back to a four-goal lead (5-1) on an unassisted tally by sophomore midfielder Drew Koeneman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) at 12:04 of the second period.

Lynchburg responded with three-straight goals, including a pair by senior attackman Michael Mundorf (Cambridge, Md./Mt. St. Joseph), to cut it to a 5-4 game with 4:35 left in the half. Senior attackman Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford) scored off a Daw feed for a 6-4 lead at 2:42, but the Hornets closed with two goals to knot the score at 6-6 heading into haltime.

Hoff scored a pair of goals to start the third quarter scoring, before sophomore midfielder Mark Wachtmeister (Wellesley, Mass./Belmont Hill) scored unassisted with 3:10 left in the third quarter to make the score 8-7 in favor of LC. However, the Hornets scored two more and held the Generals scoreless in the fourth period for the three-goal win, their fifth-straight over W&L.

Daw led W&L with two goals and one assist, while Washington had two goals. Senior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played all 60 minutes in goal and made eight saves.

Hoff paced the Hornets with four goals and one assist, while Mundorf had three goals. Junior midfielder Ethan Farrell (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket) chipped in one goal and two assists and first-year goalkeeper Franc Cook (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) totaled 12 saves.
