W&L Men's Lacrosse Breezes by Sewanee, 22-3

LEXINGTON, Va. - The seventh-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 13-1 halftime lead and never looked back in claiming a 22-3 victory over Sewanee on Wednesday evening at Wilson Field.

A total of 12 different Generals (7-0) found the goal as W&L won for the seventh-straight time, its longest winning streak since claiming 12-consecutive wins during the 2004 campaign.

Junior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) totaled three goals and two assists to lead W&L in scoring. First-year attackman Scott Meehan (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Manlius-Pebble Hill) registered five assists, while senior attackman Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford), junior attackman Max Mancuso (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and sophomore midfielder Mark Wachtmeister (Wellesley, Mass./Belmont Hill) tallied three goals apiece. Sophomore midfielder Justin Donati (Walkersville, Md./St. Paul's) chipped in one goal and a pair of assists.

Senior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) started in goal for the Generals and played the first 30 minutes, allowing one goal and making three saves. Sophomore Ned Lundvall (Richmond, Va./Gilman) and junior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St. Mark's) split the final two quarters of action, allowing one goal and making one save each.

Sewanee (0-7) was paced by first-year attackman Jack Thomasson (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield), who posted one goal and two assists. Sophomore Stewart Calder (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) played the first 30 minutes in goal and made nine saves, while allowing 13 goals. First-years Spencer Graves (Lynchburg, Va./Episcopal) and Patrick Quinn (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers) played the final two quarters and made eight stops between them.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Greensboro College for a 4:00 pm contest.
