Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team
survived a scare from visiting Lynchburg before ultimately
defeating the Hornets, 3-2, on Wednesday evening at the Warner
Center.
Set scores for the match were 21-25, 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 15-10 as
W&L improved to 6-10 on the season and 4-2 in the ODAC. For LC,
it was its first league-loss this season and dropped them to 12-6
overall and 5-1 in the conference.
Junior middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) was
one of three Generals with double-digit totals in kills as she
posted 13. Sophomore middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee,
Fla./Maclay School) also notched 13 kills, while junior outside
hitter Marah Schmitz (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) chipped in 12
kills.
First-year libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) led the
way with 20 digs. Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) had
13 digs to go with eight kills and junior defensive specialist
Summer Goldberg (Marietta, Ga./Woodward Academy) posted 12
digs.
Senior setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission
South) contributed a season-high 42 assists.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday when it takes on
Greensboro at 5:00 pm as part of the Averett Invitational.
