LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer
team played their fourth double-overtime game of the season as they
tied Randolph, 1-1, on Saturday night in Lynchburg.
Neither team would find the net in the first half and through most
of the second. First-year forward Dave Phillips (Reisterstown,
Md./Loyola Blakefield) would put the Generals (3-2-3, 1-1-2 ODAC)
on the board in the 64th minute of a helper from senior midfielder
Drew Crowley (Weston, Mass./Weston). Randolph (2-7-2, 1-2-1 ODAC)
would respond with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute from
forward Eddy Ratianarvio to tie the game and send it into extra
minutes.
The Generals led the Wildcats in shots, 13-9, and corner kicks,
4-3.
Junior goalie Ben Bartlett (Towson, Md./McDonogh) played all 110
minutes, allowing one goal while recording five saves. Randolph
goalie Aaron Humphreys also played the duration, allowing one goal
and recording eight saves.
The Generals return to action Wednesday as they travel to Virginia
Wesleyan with a slated start time of 4:00 pm.
