Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer
team had plenty of opportunities but fell short on senior day,
losing to Hampden-Sydney, 1-0, on Saturday at Watt Field.
The only score of the game came in the 34th minute of the foot of
Hampden-Sydney (14-3, 7-2 ODAC) sophomore Bryan Hughes (Midlothian,
Va./Midlothian) of a helper from junior forward Andrew Berg
(Aberdeen, Scotland/International School of Aberdeen).
The Tigers topped the Generals (4-6-4, 2-5-2 ODAC) in both shots,
13-11, and corner kicks, 5-2.
W&L sophomore goalie Alex Lambert (Massapequa Park,
N.Y./Chaminade) played all 90:00 minutes for the Generals, allowing
one goal while recording four saves. H-SC junior goalie John Robert
Plyer (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) also played the duration,
recording four saves en route to the shutout.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday as they travel to
Bridgewater for their final regular-season ODAC contest. The start
time is slated for 4:00 pm.
