Box Score 2 LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team avenged
an early season loss with a 3-2 win over Christopher Newport on
Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.
W&L (13-10) outlasted the Captains (22-5), 14-25, 25-16,
21-215, 25-20, 15-11, to avenge 3-0 loss suffered in the
Generals' first match of the season.
Junior middle blocker Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) led
the offense with 20 kills, senior outside hitter Rachael Phillips
(Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) posted 16 kills and sophomore outside
hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) added 11
kills.
Senior setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission
South) registered 40 assists and tied for the team lead with 13
digs. Phillips and junior defensive specialist Jenna Finger (Homer
Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) notched 13 digs apiece.
Brooks added six blocks and Finger chipped in 12 assists.
The Generals return to action on Saturday at 3:00 pm when they
host Roanoke for a non-conference match.
