LEXINGTON, Va.— Roanoke junior defender Michael Stark
(Newport News, Va./Menchville) recorded the lone goal for the
Maroons as they went on to defeat the Washington and Lee
Men's soccer team, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Neither team found the net in the first half, and no points were
added to the board until the 69th minute when Stark recorded his
goal off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Drew Claytor
(Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley).
Junior goalie Ben Bartlett (Towson, Md./McDonogh) played all 90:00
in net, allowing one goal while recording three saves for the
Generals (3-4-3, 1-3-2 ODAC). Roanoke (9-3-2, 5-0 ODAC) first-year
goalie Ryan Russell (Danville, Va./George Washington) also played
the duration, recording one save en route to the shutout.
The Generals return to action Wednesday as they face Emory &
Henry for a 4:30 pm match at Watt Field.
