HOBOKEN, N.J. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 0-2 in a tri-match at Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday morning.  The Generals fell to the host Ducks by a score of 36-6 and then dropped a 39-6 decision to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  W&L's match with McDaniel was postponed.

The top performers on the day for W&L (2-4, 1-2) were senior 285-pounder John Christopher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons), senior 165-pounder Rob Terrin (Baltimore, Md./Friends) and first-years David Dennis (Sherman, W.Va./Ravenswood) and Ben Ersing (Beverly, Mass./St. John's Prep), who all went 1-1 in their two matches.

Christopher dropped his first match to Stevens' James Roarty by a score of 3-1 in overtime, then recovered to down John Gosselin of the Merchant Marines, 7-5 in overtime, in the finale.

Terrin opened with a 9-3 setback to Joe Favia of Stevens, but also recovered to post a win against USMMA, defeating Seth Ching, 2-1.

Both Ersing and Dennis opened their day with victories.  Ersing knocked off Frank Maselli of Stevens at 125 pounds by a score of 8-4, then fell to USMMA's Jordan Alfaro by tech fall (5:45) in the second match.  Dennis notched an 8-3 win over Stevens' Tony Mancini at 149 pounds, but was defeated by Dan Twito of the Merchant Marines in his final match.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Southern Virginia for a 7:00 pm match.
