LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior forward Kirk Jones (Maple Glen, Pa./Germantown Academy) hit a three-pointer to tie the game with 27 seconds remaining and then opened overtime with another triple in leading Washington and Lee to a 56-52 overtime victory over Lynchburg College on Wednesday evening at Turner Gym.
The Generals (10-4, 3-2) shot just 18-of-30 (.600) from the foul line and committed 22 turnovers in the contest, but hung tight with the Hornets (3-12, 1-5) throughout the second half. The second stanza featured eight lead changes and nine ties, the last coming on Jones' three-pointer that knotted the game at 47-47. LC's Mason Wooldridge had a chance to win it with two seconds remaining, but his jumper missed and Jones claimed the rebound as time expired.

Junior forward Ben Goetsch (Timonium, Md./Gilman) hit four-straight free throws in the final 2:49 of overtime, including a pair with 10 seconds remaining to ice the game for the Generals, their sixth-straight win over Lynchburg.
Jones led W&L with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Goetsch tallied 10 points, while junior forward Zac White (Baltimore, Md./Park School) posted eight points and a team-high six rebounds.
