WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 1-2 in a tri-match hosted by Waynesburg University on Saturday afternoon. The Generals knocked off Centennial Conference-foe Gettysburg College by a score of 22-21, but fell to the host Yellow Jackets (40-7) and Washington & Jefferson (36-12).

Leading the way for the Generals was senior 285-pounder John Christopher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons), who posted a pair of victories and also won by forfeit. Christopher knocked off Waynesburg's Rick Zanicki by a score of 11-3 and defeated Washington & Jefferson's Taylor Potts, 4-2. He won by forfeit against Gettysburg.

Also for W&L (2-2, 1-0), senior Rob Terrin (Baltimore, Md./Friends) and junior Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) both went 2-1 on the day.

Terrin defeated Matt Zimmerman of Waynesburg by a score of 2-0 and John Subnelli of W&J (Fall 2:14) at 165 pounds, while Brusca knocked off Mike Slabinski of Gettysburg (5-2) and Nicholas Centra of W&J (8-7) in the 141-pound weight class.

Washington and Lee will return to action on Saturday as it hosts the W&L Invitational beginning at 10:00 am.
