W&L Volleyball Falls to No. 21 Christopher Newport, 3-0

CROZET, Va. – In a match played at Western Albemarle High School, the Washington and Lee volleyball team fell, 3-0, to No. 21 Christopher Newport on Sunday. The Generals now stand at 10-4 on the season.

Playing an American Volleyball Coaches Association ranked team for the third time in its last four matches, W&L fell 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.

Sophomore setter Jenna Finger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) paced W&L with 15 assists and 11 digs, while junior setter Megan Steinhardt (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) added 14 assists. Junior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fl./Tampa Prep) chipped in 11 kills and nine digs and senior outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) totaled 12 digs.

Of Washington and Lee's four losses this season, three of them have come to teams ranked in the Top 25 by the AVCA.

W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Emory & Henry at 6:30 pm.
