Generals Cruise to a 19-2 Win at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Washington and Lee jumped out to an 11-1 first-half lead en route to a 19-2 victory over Guilford in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday evening at the Armfield Athletic Center.

The Generals (9-5, 5-1) had 12 different players find the back of the net, led by senior attackman Will Englehart (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), who scored a pair of goals in a five-goal run to start the game.

Guilford got on the board with 1:50 left in the first quarter as freshman midfielder Mark Halip (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) scored a man-up tally off an assist from senior attackman Todd Bochenek (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) to make it 5-1. However, W&L scored the game's next 12 goals to push out to a 17-1 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Englehart finished with three goals, while senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) tallied two goals and a game-high three assists. Junior midfielder Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson) posted two goals and two assists, and junior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) chipped in two goals and one assist. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and freshmen Ned Lundvall (Richmond, Va./Gilman) and Jason Lumpkin (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) all played in goal for the Generals and combined for six saves.

Senior attackman Colin Davis (Brewster, Mass./St. Mark's) also found the net for the Quakers. Seniors Andrew Vigne (Concord, Mass./Middlesex) and Ian MacPhail (Bedford, Mass./Winchendon) both played in goal for Guilford and combined for 15 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan in an ODAC Tournament Semifinal game slated for 4:30 pm. Guilford's season comes to an end with a 2-12 overall record and an 0-6 mark in the ODAC.
