LYNCHBURG, Va. – Fifth-ranked Lynchburg College raced out to a 6-1 second-quarter lead en route to a 14-5 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening at Shellenberger Field.

The Generals (7-5, 3-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:14 into the game as senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) scored off a feed from junior midfielder Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson). However, the Hornets (11-2, 4-0) responded with six straight tallies, including one goal and three assists from midfielder Ryan Cranston for a 6-1 lead with 7:38 left in the second quarter.

W&L scored a pair of goals just 21 seconds apart as sophomore attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) and freshman midfielder Drew Koeneman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) both found rope, but the Hornets scored the game's next four goals for a 10-3 lead en route to the nine-goal victory.

Rider and Keigler notched one goal and one assist each, while Skeen had a pair of assists. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded 15 saves.

Lynchburg was led by attackman Johnny Black's three goals and two assists. Cranston had two goals and three helpers. Garrett Curran played the entire contest in goal and posted 13 stops.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Hampden-Sydney for a 1:00 pm contest.
