The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 1-2 on the day at the Ursinus Double-Dual on Saturday in Collegeville, Pa. The Generals defeated McDaniel, 22-21, but fell to Muhlenberg, 25-15, and Ursinus, 28-9.
The Blue and White were led by seniors Peter Lawrence (Greenwich, Conn./Loomis-Chaffee) and Anthony Boniello (Katanoh, N.Y./Somers), who both went 3-0 on the afternoon. Lawrence, who wrestles at 149 pounds, defeated Randy Neaton from McDaniel, 17-6, Chris Springer of Ursinus, 8-7, and Joseph DeCampo of Muhlenberg, 9-7. Wrestling at 165 pounds, Boniello downed Corey Beall of McDaniel, 4-0, Michael Schwager of Ursinus, 4-3, and David Lavin of McDaniel, 4-0.
The Generals also had two wrestlers who went 2-1 on the day. Senior David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) claimed one victory by forfeit and posted a technical-fall win, 22-6, over Michael Slevin of Muhlenberg. Senior Kirk Adamson (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) defeated Ryan Deiter of McDaniel, 6-5, and downed Keith Swanson of Muhlenberg, 11-0.
The Generals return to the mat on Saturday as they travel to the Apprentice School for a 6:30 pm meet.
