Bienemann Totals 37 Points in 98-91 Win Over Emory & Henry

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) led five Generals in double figures with a career-high 37 points in leading Washington and Lee to a 98-81 win over Emory & Henry in ODAC men's basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Warner Center.

The win improved the Generals to 13-8 overall and 9-5 in the ODAC, clinching W&L's first non-losing season since the 1989-90 campaign (15-12).

Emory & Henry (6-16, 2-13) jumped out to a 22-12 lead at the 11:38 mark of the first half, but the Generals closed the first half on a 31-12 run to produce a 43-34 lead at the break.

The Wasps pulled to within five points (45-40) early in the second stanza, but the Generals quickly pushed back out to a double-digit lead and maintained their double-figure margin for the final nine minutes of the game.

As a team, the Generals shot 65.1 percent (41-63) from the floor, held a 43-21 rebounding advantage and logged 30 assists to just 19 turnovers.

Bienemann tallied his career-high point total on 17-of-19 shooting from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds. Junior guard Chris McHugh (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) posted 13 points and tied a career-high with eight assists, while sophomore forward Ben Goetsch (Timonium, Md./Gilman) notched career-highs in points (12) and rebounds (9). Senior forward Femi Kusimo (Cross Lanes, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) registered 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists and junior forward Kirk Jones (Maple Glen, Pa./Germantown Academy) chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Emory & Henry was led by junior guard Robert Hudson (Nashville, Tenn./Hillsboro), who recorded 20 points. Sophomore guard J.D. Dyson (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) notched 16 points and junior guard Jarell Christian (New Kent, Va./New Kent) added 14 markers.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday as it hosts Lynchburg College for a 2:00 pm contest.
