HOLLINS, Va. -- Top-ranked Washington and Lee opened the 2008 ODAC Volleyball Tournament with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 win over eighth-seeded Guilford in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at Hollins University.
The Generals, winners of seven-straight ODAC Tournament titles, were paced by junior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep), who notched 14 kills and 14 digs. Senior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) registered nine kills and senior middle blocker Kassie Bagley (Midlothian, Va./James River) posted eight kills, while junior right side Kelly Harrison (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) added 22 digs. Junior setter Megan Steinhardt (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) amassed 34 assists and 11 digs.
With win, the Generals improved to 29-6 overall, while Guilford fell to 6-23 overall.
W&L will face the winner of the match between fourth-seeded Roanoke and fifth-seeded Bridgewater in Saturday's semifinal match at 11:00 am. The championship match is slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
