LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Sophomore forward Betsy Kwiatkowski tallied the game's lone goal early in the first half to lead third-ranked Lynchburg to a 1-0 victory over third-seeded Washington and Lee in the semifinals of the ODAC women's soccer tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Shellenberger Field.
The Hornets quickly got on board when Kwiatkowski slipped an unassisted shot past senior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) at the 7:20 mark and LC held on for the shutout.
Lynchburg registered a 13-9 advantage in shots, while both teams had five corner kicks.
Sophomore Jackie Bader played the duration between the pipes for Lynchburg and stopped five would-be goals, while Moreo also played 90 minutes and recorded three saves for the Generals.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 18-0-3 overall and advance to the ODAC championship game on Saturday, while Washington and Lee concludes its season with a 13-5 overall mark.
