HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Following Friday evening's tough 3-2 loss to No. 1 Juniata, the W&L volleyball team splits its matches on the final day of the Wid Guisler Invitational. The Generals fell to Carnegie Mellon, 3-0, to open the day and then defeated New York University (NYU), 3-2.
 W&L now stands at 24-6 overall and 9-0 in the ODAC heading into a matchup with Randolph-Macon, who is also a perfect 9-0 in league play, on Wednesday in Lexington.
In the Generals 25-22, 25-10, 25-22 loss to the Tartans, junior Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fl./Tampa Prep) and senior Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) had six kills apiece. Junior Kelly Harrison (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) led W&L with 14 digs, while Phillips added 11.
In beating the Violets 25-15, 15-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11, W&L received 17 kills from Phillips, 12 from Ulrich and 10 from sophomore Marah Schmitz (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney). Sophomore Summer Goldberg (Marietta, Ga./Woodward Academy) led the way with 27 digs, while Schmitz and Phillips chipped in 21 and 13, respectively. Junior Megan Steinhardt (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) notched 40 assists in the win.
W&L returns to the court when it hosts Randolph-Macon on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
