LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior midfielder Ashley Hoath registered the game-winning goal in the second half to lead No. 2 Lynchburg to a 2-1 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's soccer action on Saturday evening at Shellenberger Field.

The Hornets (11-0-3, 4-0-2) struck early in the first half when sophomore midfielder Lindsay Gengras connected with first-year Joanie Snyder, who snuck one past W&L senior goalkeeper Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) at 10:58. First-year forward Kat Barnes (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) answered back in the 40th minute to knot the score 1-1 going into the half. 

The score remained tied in the second period until Hoath blasted a shot past Moreo at 61:33 and the Hornets held on for the one-goal victory.

Moreo played all 90 minutes and registered seven saves for W&L (8-4-0, 6-2), while sophomore netminder Jackie Bader also played the duration and stopped three would-be goals for LC.

The Generals return to action on Saturday when they host Mary Washington for a 3:00 pm game.
