WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 3-0 at the Washington & Jefferson Quadrangular on Saturday afternoon at the Henry Memorial Center. The Generals defeated Centennial-rival Gettysburg, 26-13, Waynesburg, 40-6, and host W&J, 19-15.
W&L (3-0, 1-0) was led by seniors David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) and Anthony Boniello (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) and junior Rob Terrin (Baltimore, Md./Friends), who all went 3-0 on the afternoon.
Shubick, who wrestles at 133 pounds, beat Richard Masella of Gettysburg on a technical fall, 18-2, Josh Boyle of Waynesburg, 7-1, and W&J's Brandon Samson, 10-4. Boniello, who wrestles at 165 pounds, defeated the Bullets' Patrick Doherty, 3-0, the Yellow Jackets' Jacob Benczo, 8-1, and the Presidents' Colin Woods by fall, 1:51. Terrin at 174-pounds claimed one victory by forfeit before defeating DJ Neri of Gettysburg, 7-1 and Eric Monday of W&J, 3-2.
The Generals return to the mat on Sat., Jan. 12 when they host the W&L Invitational. The meet begins at 10:00 am.
